An Avocado a day...

Well, 

The ones who follow me know my secret ( or not so secret Obsession) - Avo's

If i could choose one food to eat for the rest of my Life ( would i really??) - it has to be this round ball of goodness!


Being honest, i dont think i ever loved anything green! Not until i turned vegetarian ( by choice) in 2014.
What happened after that was a whirlwind of weirdness in my Life. Lacking proteins, falling terribly sick for over 8 months and not figuring out what in the world was wrong with me?


The wrong was that my vegetarian diet was an absolute failure! And one day ( actually, no) over a period of time it all changed! I started eating healthier, i still have my cheats but i am proud of myself for coming this far really.

So the number 1 food in my Life ( i dont cheat on him, ever!) is the AVO!

The avocado is a rather unique type of fruit. Most fruit consists primarily of carbohydrate, while avocado is high in healthy fats. Numerous studies show that it has powerful beneficial effects on health.

1.This fruit is prized for its high nutrient value and is added to all sorts of dishes due to its good flavor and rich texture. It is the main ingredient in guacamole. These days, the avocado has become an incredibly popular food among health conscious individuals. It is often referred to as a superfood... which is not surprising given its health properties.

2. Avocados are heavily nutritious and contain a wide variety of nutrients, and GOOD fats! including 20 different vitamins and minerals.

Here are some of the most abundant nutrients, in a single 3.5 ounce (100 gram) serving (3) 
  • Vitamin K: 26% of the RDA.
  • Folate: 20% of the RDA.
  • Vitamin C: 17% of the RDA.
  • Potassium: 14% of the RDA.
  • Vitamin B5: 14% of the RDA.

The antioxidants in the fruit will help to detoxify your body and help to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, making your skin more supple and plump.

My Favorite DIY Avocado - Honey face Mask ( Once or twice a week) 

INGREDIENTS
  • ½ avocado
  • ¼ cup uncooked oatmeal
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar ( optional) 
  • 2 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

Benefits: DIY avocado and honey face mask to help soothe, smooth, and hydrate your skin. It refreshes your complexion and plumps up your skin from within. 

INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Mash and mix the ingredients in a small bowl and apply to your face ( preferably after cooling it for 10 minutes). Can also be used on the undereye area as its a creamy mix.
  2. Let sit on your face for about 15 minutes.
  3. Rinse with warm/cool water.
  4. Follow with your favorite moisturizer or a spritz of cold water infused with two drops of honey.
