Show yourself some love.

Love is such an over-rated yet under-rated thing. By thing, i mean emotion.

Love is available to all of us, whether or not we happen to be in a romantic relationship right now.Yet, thanks to the wonderful concept of Valentine’s Day, many people feel unloved on the one day of the year set aside to celebrate love. But do we truly need, a day of the year to love? And to be loved?

The one thing i believe is, on an everyday basis, we must practise Metta, the Buddhist loving-kindness meditation. This is a meditation to help us increase our own self-love, as well as to send love to others, and not just those we most care about.

There is nothing worse, in our lives, than feeling great, or terrible because we expect people to love us in a certain way. We must learn that we need to indeed, love ourselves, in every possible way.

This meditation comes to light in 5 steps.

Stage 1: In this stage, we bring certain people to our mind. For each person, this could be your boyfriend, best friend, mother/father, husband/wife, child or any other relation in your life. We will now breathe in or think over the qualities we admire in them, and then we send them positive energy filled with love. As many of you may know,  people who feel uncomfortable in specific group settings where there is a mix of energy and emotion. Bioenergy is evolving, and soon it will be obvious that humans are able to transfer energy just like plants. Humans not only transfer energy but also absorb it. Therefore telepathy, psychic connections and so on...

But always remember, as a thumb rule, begin with yourself. You are the foundation of love. You have to fill your own jar in order to pour love into others.

Stage 2: In this stage, bring to mind, the things you don't appreciate about these same people. For each person mentally write a small paper, close your mind, imagine you are holding that paper, and let release it. Imagine it flying away. This is a way of saying, i let these " small " and " not-so-important" things go, in front of the bigger LOVE.

Stage 3: In this step, which is usually the most challenging one, bring to mind anyone you’re currently having difficulties/issues with.
This may be someone you’re currently involved with romantically, but there’s conflict in the relationship. It may be someone you’ve recently broken up with, and there’s still lots of anger between you. Or, there might not be any romantic association with this person. It doesn’t matter; for all these people who you share a "not so happy" vibe with, say the following mantra, to release yourself.

Stay well.
I pray you are happy.
I pray we hold peace with each other
Bless you.

Stage 4: In this final stage, close your eyes, and imagine, the whole universe. Actually imagine the World, This vast globe. Start slowly zooming in with your mind into your location and then your city. With this, you will finally see you, in that home, in that position you currently sit in. Remind yourself how "SMALL" you really are in front of this world and that you must always keep that smallness within you, to lead to a peaceful, beautiful tommorow.

This whole Love, meditation will take about 10 minutes, or less or more depending on how much time you love to spend with yourself.

Let this be a gift to yourself, and those around you. And see the peace of LOVE building up, day by day.

Love you guys, Anki
